Patient Spotlight: Connie Klinger, Cataract Patient
Worrying Signs
Connie Klinger has always enjoyed healthy vision throughout her life. But as she was getting older, she realized that her vision was starting to worsen slowly. In particular, she noticed that her vision was becoming cloudy, and she needed more light to read. Perhaps most importantly as a busy grandmother, her vision at night was becoming much worse.
“My major problem was my night vision,” said Connie. “The light just seemed to make it hard to see at night.” It made it hard to go to the grandkids sports games and to drive around at night, especially in the winter months when the sun goes down early.
Because she took good care of her eyes, she knew these were symptoms of cataracts and wondered if that might be causing these changes in her vision.
A Seamless Process
Thankfully, Connie had been going to Vistar Eye Center for regular eye appointments, so at her next appointment, she mentioned the symptoms to her eye doctor, Dr. Kinsler. He found that she did have cataracts, and eventually, they became severe enough to require surgery. “I decided with my eye doctor to go ahead and do the surgery,” said Connie.
The process was simple enough: “A week before the surgery, I got a package. It had everything I needed and all of the instructions. And a phone number if I needed help with anything,” she explained.
“The morning of the surgery was very quick – the surgery itself takes only about 15 minutes,” said Connie. She appreciated how the staff from Vistar called her to check in periodically throughout the recovery process to make sure everything was going smoothly.
An Unexpected Outcome
The day after Connie’s surgery, she walked past a mirror in her bathroom. She stopped abruptly, looking at how different her face looked. “Oh my gosh, I’ve got all of these wrinkles. How did I get them so soon?” she said. “And then I realized I had cataract surgery, and I see things clearer!”
Now that her night vision has improved, Connie says that it’s much easier to spend time with her grandchildren, not having to worry if she should try to get back to the house before dark.
“I have a granddaughter that has a pug, and it’s fun to go the movies in the evening, and we can stop by and take the pug for a walk before we go home,” Connie said.
We’re so glad that Connie had a trouble-free and effective cataract surgery and recovery so that she can get back to living her life in full focus.
