Growing up in Montana, Dr. Scothorn planned to become a petroleum engineer. But, after discovering a real passion for biology he gravitated toward medicine and has never regretted that decision. He loves what he does every day and wants all of his patients to feel like family.
“The ability to touch people’s lives in a profound way and to feel their gratitude is so uplifting and sustaining.”
When he’s not working or spending time with his family, Dr. Scothorn likes to ski, fish, hunt, boat, and water-ski. He never takes these leisure activities for granted for he is reminded daily that many people are not so fortunate. He is constantly striving to enable his patients to return to the activities that they enjoy by correcting and improving their vision.
Dr. Scothorn is also on the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors and a member of the Lion’s Club.
